Depression can be induced by many various emotional, actual or ecological aspects, and while a potential trigger may be hard to recognize, this will assist when seeking cure. Reasons may include:
Physical health problems
Life events
Diet and exercise
Medication, drugs and alcohol
Childhood experiences

3. Exercise

4. Eat healthy

5. Getting sufficient sleep

Sadness is a part of life and no one can escape it in the ups and downs of life. One may get depressed due to various unfavorable conditions of life like the death of some loved one, divorce, financial crisis, serious illness etc. But sadness is usually short-term and get healed with passing time. When this sadness continues for long-term or someone persistently remains in a depressed mood, it can be “major depressive disorder”.

Reaching out to your nearest psychiatrist is the best solution to design the pathway for treatment of major depressive disorder.

The best way to treat depression is cognitive behavior therapy.  Taking antidepressants won't help you. Try CBT for a while. It will work well.

Yeah, I second. CBT is really effective in treating depression

Depression is something which can be caused by a variety of reasons and there is no specific reasons why it happens or can happen to a person.However it is utmost important that once a person feels that he or she is suffering from Depression-They should definately take Medical Help as not taking proper precaution can lead to deteriotation of health condition.
