Difference between Appendix and Appendicitis?

Hi,

Is there any difference between Appendix and Appendicitis?

Sorry for asking this. I really don't know. I am a medical student so asking this.

 

Please help.

Appendicitis is a painful inflammation or swelling of the appendix, a 5-10 cm tube of tissue connected to the large intestine.

It means, appendix is a part of the human body, while appendicitis is a disease concerning appendix.(if I'm not mistaken)
