Hypothyroidism, also known as under active thyroid, is when the thyroid gland does not make enough thyroid hormone to meet the needs of your body.
 
The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland in the front of your neck that forms hormones. Thyroid hormones control the rate of many activities in your body. These include how fast you burn calories, helps control your heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, and weight. If your thyroid is an under active thyroid, it does not make enough thyroid hormone to meet the needs of your body, it is called hypothyroidism.
 
 
When symptoms of hypothyroidism appear, they can vary greatly and may include fatigue, cold, constipation, dry skin, weight gain, thinning hair, poor memory, and increased sensitivity to depression.
